The two performers will allow the audience to glimpse into the violin-piano repertoire of the turn of the 20th century through the works of six composers. In the first part of the concert, Polish music will play the lead: Wieniawski\u2019s Scherzo tarantella and Szymanowski\u2019s composition inspired by Paganini (op. 40). In the rest of the evening, the audience can relish a programme arching from Bart\u00f3k to Jen\u0151 Hubay: Bart\u00f3k\u2019s deservedly popular Rhapsody No. 1, whose verbunkos tune intensifies into a fierce festivity, then a rearrangement from the Romanian dances. The 1905 version of Kod\u00e1ly\u2019s famous Adaggio will be played on the violin this time, followed by a virtuoso composition by a celebrated violinist of the early 20th century, Ferenc Vecsey. Recent highlights include concerto appearances with Belgian National Orchestra, Budapest Festival Orchestra, Brussels Philharmonic, Franz Liszt Chamber Orchestra, Hungarian National Philharmonic Orchestra and London Mozart Players. J\u00falia has been selected for the Rising Stars programme of the European Concert Hall Organisation (ECHO) for the 2023-24 season, when she will perform solo recitals in some of Europe\u2019s most prestigious concert halls. These include Casa da M\u00fasica Porto, Concertgebouw Amsterdam, Elbphilharmonie Hamburg, Festspielhaus Baden-Baden, Konzerthaus Dortmund, Konserthuset Stockholm, Philharmonie Cologne, Sage Gateshead, Th\u00e9\u00e2tre des Champs-Elys\u00e9es Paris, Wiener Konzerthaus, and M\u00fcpa Budapest, to name just a few. She has already given recitals and taken part in festivals and masterclasses across Europe, including the Besan\u00e7on Music Festival, IMS Prussia Cove, the Holland International Music Sessions, the Kronberg Academy and the Santander Festival Academy. As a chamber musician, J\u00falia has shared the stage and collaborated with artists such as Krist\u00f3f Bar\u00e1ti, Frank Braley, Gautier Capu\u00e7on, Gary Hoffman, Tommaso Lonquich, Jean-Yves Thibaudet and Istv\u00e1n V\u00e1rdai. Alongside her success at the Queen Elizabeth Competition, Pusker has been a recipient of various notable prizes, such as the renowned Junior Prima Prize and Cziffra Festival Prize, which honour Hungary\u2019s finest young musicians. Her most recent recordings include Eric Tanguy\u2019s 2nd Violin Concerto with Jyv\u00e4skyl\u00e4 Sinfonia under the baton of Ville Matvejeff for the Ondine label, and her solo album with Zolt\u00e1n Fej\u00e9rv\u00e1ri entitled \u2018Schubert on Violin\u2019 for Hungaroton. Born into a family of musicians in Hungary, J\u00falia began her musical education at the Liszt Academy in Budapest before moving to England to study with Gy\u00f6rgy Pauk at the Royal Academy of Music in London, where she received her Master of Music degree with distinction in 2016. Between 2016 and 2021, she was Artist-in-Residence at the Queen Elisabeth Music Chapel in Brussels, working with Augustin Dumay. Graduate of the University, where he studied piano with Prof. Elz\u0307bieta Tarnawska, and piano chamber music with Prof. Katarzyna Jankows\u00adka\u00ad-Borzykowska. Has worked under the guidance of leading world educators, such as Kevin Kenner, Dang Thai Son, John O\u2019Connor, Hiroko Nakamura, Sergei Babayan, Vera Nossina, Vera Gornostaeva, Ewa Pob\u0142ocka, Andrzej Tatarski, Kazimierz Michalik, Andrzej Bauer, Iwan Monigetii and Jerzy Marchwin\u0301ski. Has given concerts at majority of prestigious concert halls in Poland, incl. the ven\u00adues of National Philharmonic in Warsaw, National Forum of Music in Wroc\u0142aw, National Symphony Orchestra of Polish Radio in Katowice, Sinfonia Varsovia in Warsaw, at Royal Castle in Warsaw, and Krzysztof Penderecki European Centre in Lus\u0142awice. Has had several international concert appearances to his credit; has performed in most of the countries of Europe, as well as in Asia and Africa. The two works have little in common except for an exceptionally careful approach to matters of violin technique, which is due to the author&#8217;s collaboration with the first performers Pawe\u0142 Kocha\u0144ski and Wiktor Goldfeld. The Mythos represents the traditional lyrical idiom in its modernised, \u2018impressionistic\u2019 variety, while the Caprices provocatively break Paganini&#8217;s original style by adding a distanced, \u2018decadent\u2019 accompaniment. When juxtaposed with this rather perverse piece, Henryk Wieniawski&#8217;s popular Scherzo-Tarantella (1855) appears as a work of natural invention, yet one that exhausts the traditional prerequisites of virtuosity extremely effectively. A similar impression is made by Bela Bart\u00f3k&#8217;s Violin Rhapsody No. 1, written in 1928-29. This is guaranteed by the fact that the solo part is based on authentic folk melodies, worked out by the composer with a great sense of rhythmic and harmonic nuances, as well as taking into account the dynamics of Hungarian folk dance, consistently aiming for a climax in a dizzying tempo and high dynamics. However, the matter of the work is strongly influenced by the composer&#8217;s individuality &#8211; the matter of the work is extremely sophisticated, and the individual formal solutions are thought through to the smallest detail. Bart\u00f3k&#8217;s Romanian Dances (1915), which preceded Rhapsody, are closer to Romantic stylisation patterns &#8211; the folk original is given in an almost \u2018naked\u2019 form, in a discreet harmonic setting. The author of the violin arrangement of the work, which consists of arranging the episodes of selected dances of the cycle differently and aligning the shape of the melody with the requirements of violin technique, is Zolt\u00e1n Sz\u00e8kely.<\/div>\n<div>&nbsp;<\/div>\n<p>Zolt\u00e1n Kod\u00e1ly, Bart\u00f3k&#8217;s peer and rival, was also interested in using folkloric material. However, his popular Adagio for violin and piano (1905) shows no trace of folk music inspiration. It is a miniature maintained in a pure late-Romantic style, noble in the drawing of phrases and imbued with communicative expression.<\/p>\n<p>The late-Romantic idiom is also represented by two miniatures composed by famous Hungarian violinists: Ferenc Vecsey (Valse triste) and Jen\u0151 Hubay (Carmen Fantaisie brillante, Op. 3). The former belongs to the salon music movement, while Hubay&#8217;s Fantaisie, using the best-known themes from Bizet&#8217;s opera, is \u2018racial\u2019 concert music. The cantilena factor prevails in it at first over showiness, but the latter comes to the fore as the form develops. In the finale the impressive violin evolutions are truly breath-taking.<\/p>\n<p><br>Magdalena
